Hailing from the small town of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, is the talented, award-winning model and successful actor Steven Van Nguyen. He has won multiple awards for his talent, most notably his first prize win at the International Model and Talent Association (IMTA). His extensive resume includes acting in the films such as Project Gelb, The White Samurai, and the multi-award nominated comedy show The Amazing Gayl Pile. Along with his film and television roles, he has also done multiple commercials, such as his appearance in the commercial for Tim Horton’s, a café and donut shop nationally known throughout Canada.

Nguyen is represented as an actor and a model in Canada by award-winning agency Geoffrey Chapman Model & Talent Agency, an agency that received the Reader’s Choice Award for Best Modeling & Talent Agency in the Niagara Region the past three years in a row. The agency’s clients have been featured in commercial and editorial jobs for globally recognized companies including the likes of Gucci, L’Oreal, Sony, Victoria Secret, Nokia, Nivea and Adidas, as well as magazine industry leaders like Vogue, Elle and Mademoiselle. Nguyen is also signed to another award winning agency, Femme Fatale Media, which has not only won the award for Best Promo Modeling Agency in Toronto three times, but has also booked Nguyen as a promotional model for well-known international companies such as H&M, GUESS, Louis Vuitton, and IKEA.

Upon winning the IMTA Award in 2013, Steven Van Nguyen was featured in a four-page spread in Boss Magazine as a result of his win. The IMTA Award is sought after by thousands of hopeful candidates every year; and Nguyen’s win puts him in league with other well-known male models/actors and previous winners of the award, such as Ashton Kutcher (That 70’s Show) and Josh Duhamel (All My Children).

Nguyen’s acting credits include an unforgettable cameo on the hit comedy series The Amazing Gayl Pile produced by LaRue Entertainment. The show was featured on CBC Punchline, as well as JASH, an online channel that airs original content from partners Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim and Eric, and Reggie Watts.

A testament to Nguyen’s success as an actor, The Amazing Gayl Pile was nominated in 2014 at the British Independent Series Awards for Best International Series, as well as Best Lead Actor for Morgan Waters role on the show, among other awards. On the show Nguyen starred alongside Gemini Award winning actor Morgan Waters from The X, The Morgan Waters Show, Degrassi Takes Manhattan, and Cock’d Gunns, as well as Gemini Award winner Andy King from the hit television shows Fargo, Scare Tactics, Destination Fear, Freak Encounters, Switchstance, Ninja and Zombie, and Screwed Over. For the show, Nguyen played a product spokesman demonstrating the product at hand, while the audience watches the main character Gayl fail over and over again.

Nguyen recalls, “It was fun playing the role because the director didn’t give me a script and told me to improvise everything. I got to put all of my Second City training to good use.”

Nguyen tends to lean toward dramatic roles, but his fearlessness in taking on all genres such as his comedic role in the show further proves his diversity as an actor. Along with his awards showcasing his credibility, he has also completed extensive training at internationally praised establishments such as Second City and Armstrong Acting studios, where Nina Dobrev from Vampire Diaries and Miley Cyrus went to for acting classes.

With excellent training, award winning looks, and sought-after acting skills, Nguyen’s strong camera presence for modeling, and flexibility as an actor across genres makes him a strong contender in the industry, and a talent we will surely see more of in the future.
