DNI Clapper doesn’t seem to understand the real threat posed by North Korea’s road mobile intercontinental ballistic missile capability

FILE – Satellite image provided by GeoEye shows the area around the Yongbyon nuclear facility in Yongbyon, North Korea. The U.S.-Korea Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies said shows conclusively that North Korea has resumed building work on a reactor after months of inactivity at the site.

According to the Voice of America article, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said Pyongyang has expanded the size of its Yongbyon uranium enrichment facility and restarted a reactor used for plutonium production.
In the report Clapper indicated that the North’s nuclear weapons and missile programs “pose a serious threat” to the U.S. and Asia, noting that Pyongyang is committed to “developing a missile that can strike the U.S. mainland.”

Clapper doesn’t apparently realize or understand that North Korea already possesses that capability. A fact confirmed by former President Bush in his book Decision Points.

Concern revolves around North Korea’s North road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missiles, known as the KN-98. This missile is hard to target precisely because it is so mobile and being moved around constantly to avoid being targeted by the United States.
