Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra who has just completed and released the movei “Mary Kom”, a biopic on India’s boxing sportswoman Mary Kom, is supposedly set to take on the mantle of playing another tough woman, Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman police officer. Kiran Bedi is a former Director General of Police, famous for towing of then Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi’s car for traffic violations. Bedi was also head of India’s infamous Tihar Jail, where some of the country’s most notorious criminals are incarcerated. Chopra’s Mary Kom pulled in 1.6 million USD on its opening weekend and is growing steadily with word-of-mouth, though critics weren’t overly effusive in their praise. Mary Kom, an olympic bronze medalist, recently won gold in the 2014 Asian Games.

Chopra’s spokesperson has confirmed the new movie, which will be directed by “luck” and “Kaal” director Soham Shah. No information was forthcoming on when the movie is slated for release. hopra has stated that she will not be playing another sportswoman in a biopic. “People have this habit of generalising … after one film, they think I should do all sports-related biopics. I don’t see myself playing a role in a sports biopic at all,” she says.

Chopra is working at present “Dil Dhadakna Do”, slated for release in June 2015 and produced by Zoya Akthar.
