LAHDC, Leh CEO for opening new tourists in district

 

Leh, November 03(Scoop News) The  Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar today held a meeting with the Union Home Secretary, RK Singh at Council Secretariat and raised some important issues of Leh district seeking prompt support from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India to address them.

 

The CEC said that LAHDC Leh has already submitted a proposal to the Govt. of India for opening new tourists in the district and urged the Home Ministry for early approval in this regard in view of immense economic benefit to the poor people living in remote and rural areas. Mr. Spalbar also took up the vexed issue of inner line permit system in Ladakh urged the Home Ministry to remove the system saying that this has been a major sourse of irritant and lots of inconveniences not only to the visitors but to hundred and thousands of workers who move from plains insummer to work in different civil and army projects along Indo-China and Indo-Pak borders.

 

One main issue raised  by the CEC before the Union Home Secretary about raining of a Ladakh Women Paramilitary battalion. Mr. Spalbar advocated that Ladakhi women are equally of a sturdy breed well adapted to the harshness of the high altitude environs and full of thrill and pride of serving the Country. Given the strategic importance of the area and extreme climatic condition, the CEC said that the Ladakhi Women Unit could, beyond doubt, prove skilled mountain warriors and contribute immensely in guarding the volatile borders.

 

The CEC once again raised the pending issue of opening Demjok for cross border trade on the pattern of Nathu-la pass in Sikkim. Urging the Home Ministry for taking up the case at appropriate level, Spalbar said that it will not only boost the regional economy but would go a long way in fostering Sino-Indian relation.

 

Giving patience hearing to the points raised by the CEC, the Union Home Secretary, Mr. RK Singh assured that he will take up all the issues with the high authority and said that genuine issues of Ladakh will get due attention.

 

The Executive Councilors of LAHDC and the Deputy Commissioner Leh also present in the meeting.
