US News: People in Virginia’s Loudoun County area are suffering crime waves from criminals in seach of gold and other expensive items. Seven homes in the area have suffered from criminals taking their jewelry and other valuables since December 2012. The Sheriff’s deputies think the criminal acts are all connected.
People in the area believe the Indian and Asian residents are the ones being targeted for carrying out their crimes.
The burglars like to make their hits when there is no-one home and it appears as though there rip-off is mostly in the hunt for gold. I’m sure since the price of gold is high it makes for an alluring quest for criminals to try and get their hands on gold.
Mr. Narender Gupta a resident of the Loudoun Valley Estates stated that residents in their area are concerned about the burglaries and the people in their neighborhood are keeping abreast of any information made available about the crimes by exchanging emails and phone calls.
Gupta also indicated that many of the people in the area have security systems, but the burglars disable them and pull them from the walls. He also stated he is organizing a neighborhood watch program after two homes were burglarized in their neighborhood in a one week period.
Becky Williams, a resident of Loudoun Valley Estates, also indicated that there had been a group several years ago doing the same type burglaries in their area and they too were looking for gold.
People who have been victims of the burglaries are concerned for themselves and also for their children. No parent wants to have a break-in while their children are home and being exposed to it.
It’s my personal opinion that stay-at-home women with or without young children should keep a watchful eye and a listening ear while they’re home alone during the daytime; women should not open their doors to people they do not know and to keep watch of the individual until they leave their property. Many times a stranger will knock on the door to see if anyone is home before they burglarize it.
The wjla.com article providing this important information also indicated that the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating seven similar burglaries that happened in December 2012 between the hours of 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. at night. The intruders mostly enter through rear doors or windows when they find out no-one is home.
The Sheriff’s Office sent out a voice message advising Loudoun County residents that their neighborhoods are being targeted. Also sheriff’s deputies are upping their patrols in the area and they’re urging neighborhoods to stay vigilant and to come forward with any information as it becomes available.
People throughout the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area have seen a boost in burglars breaking into homes in the past few years. Residents in all neighborhoods are asked to be vigilant at all times and to report any unusual activity to their area Police office.
