Paonta Sahib is a very famous Sikh pilgrim center

We come to Nahan which lies at an altitude of 900 meters. Perched on an isolated ridge of the Siwalik Hills, Nahan overlooks dense forests and deep ravines. At the end of the monsoon season the festival of Bawan –Dwadashi is held here.

A short journey by car from Nahan brings us to the enchanting Renuka Lake. It is named after Renuka, who was slain by her son Parshurama in obedience to his father, the sage Jamadagni. During November, a fair is held here. We also visit a small wildlife sanctuary near the lake before traveling southwards to Paonta Sahib.

We have now descended into the plains of India leaving behind the stupendous and sacred Himalayan Mountains in the north. Paonta Sahib is a very famous Sikh pilgrim center.  There is a majestic gurdwara located here on the banks of the Yamuna River. It commemorates the last Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh, whose weapons are preserved in the gurdwara. Baisakhi is celebrated here with great pomp and splendor.
