Pentagon identifies soldier killed in so called “insider attack” in Afghanistan

SSG.Thomas A. Baysore killed in cowardly insider attack in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced today the death a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Identified was Staff Sgt. Thomas A. Baysore, Jr., 31, of Milton, Pa., who died Sept. 26, in Paktya Province, Afghanistan, from wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire during “combat operations.” The Pentagon refused to be more specific.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.

According to ABC news Sgt. Baysore was killed in a so called “insider attack” by men posing as Afghan security forces or Afghan Army soldiers – its not sure which (source: Pentagon: Fresh Look at Stopping Insider Attacks http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/pentagon-fresh-stopping-insider-attacks-20401082).

The Pentagon refused to comment on this situation and declined to speculate on who might have been responsible for this outrage.

Instead they referred us to the 101st Airborne Division Public Affairs Office who can be contacted directly at 270-798-9965 or 270-798-9961 and after duty hours at 931-217-5074.

Officials there, not surprisingly also refused to speculate on who may be responsible for the attack. But we all know who is most likely responsible in this case namely the “Taliban” – who despite a secret deal with the U.S. which agreed to release prisoners and make other concessions, reserves the right to attack and kill U.S. soldiers anytime it pleases.
