Study:Afternoon naps improve works quality

Here is a  good news for those who have the habit of afternoon naps. You are given credit for what you are doing.

Recent studies conducted by the researchers from the University of Haifa in Israel have proved that workers who take naps during daytime produce better results and quality work. As the researchers have found, catching 40 wings during the day time actually boosts concentration, relieves stress and enhances performance in office

For long, napping was thought to be trait of the lazy and incompetent. Now the study indicates napping leads to a better overall performance at the workplace reduces irritability and lethargy in workers. It also reduces sleep related disorders considerably which are common in employees world over. Napping actually boosts creativity and increases work productivity in an organization.

According to psychologist Bharat Saini, ‘Sleeping is very beneficial, since it is a stress buster and also curbs heart-related problems. Specially in the office, where there is so much work load, employees must take breaks. Naps boost blood flow to the brain and hence make you feel fresh and energized.’

History is replete with examples of eminent people who are known for  their naps, had been daytime dozers and excellent at their work. The inventor of the bulb, Thomas Alva Edison, Benjamin Franklin, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill,Albert Einstein, Napoleon, Margaret Thatcher were famous personalities who loved dozing  during the day time. Clearly napping was a buster for these historical figures and crucial to their success.

The industry giant Toyota encourages its employees to take rest and nap during the afternoon in the head quarters at Tokyo With their policy on energy conservation, the company switches off all lights thereby enabling workers to get sleep.

Various other companies across the world have special nap rooms for their workers where tired people can take rest and work when they are fresh.

Therefore, whenever, you are tired at work, do listen to your body and take a break..Even a small 20 minute nap would do woners for you..Not only it would help ease your mind and relieve you of stress, but it will also rejuvenate you to enhance your work potential.
