Timely delivery of Information under RTI Act: DC

 

Ramban/Jammu, October 9 (Scoop News) –To aware citizens and officers about  the Right to Information Act, Sangarsh RTI Movement and  Commonwealth Human Rights Initiatives (CHRI) in collaboration with District administration Ramban organized one day RTI awareness cum training program in new conference hall at DC Office complex Ramban.

 The District Development Commissioner(DC) Ramban presided over the program which was attended by more than 100 officers, Public Information Officers, Sarpanches, Panches, NGO Members, prominent citizens and other social activists belonging to district Ramban.

The welcome note was read out by Darvinder Singh, member Sangarsh RTI group and resident of Batote. Later Balvinder Singh another member of the organization threw light on the activities of their organization and also urged the citizens to avail the fullest benefit of the transparency law. He also presented the success stories of the organization on RTI. 

Whereas Ayaz Mughal, RTI activist and member Sangarsh, through his powerpoint presentation explained the various sections and provisions of J&K RTI Act 2009 and viz-a-viz Central RTI Act 2005.

Another RTI activist Raman Sharma, while debating implementation of RTI act in J&K state, underlined the grievances of the citizens and the PIOs as well. He retriated demand of his organization for ensuing budgetary provision for proper implementation of RTI in our state.   

Later on Shabir Ahmed Bhat, District Development Commissioner addressed the participants and asked the PIO to honour rights of the citizens and ensures the timely delivery of information under the RTI act.

At the end of workshop, an interactive session was conducted which participants asked various question related RTI from the RTI experts.
