May capped off a 17-4 run with a short jumper to give DSU a 21-10 lead with 9:37 left in the first half. Bell and May each had a three-pointer and seven points during the spurt. The Hornets opened up their biggest lead, 32-17, on two free throws by Bell at the 2:36 mark of the first half. May hit three-pointers on consecutive DSU possessions to give the Hornets a 45-36 lead with 14:34 left to play. The Terriers pulled to with seven points on two occasions, but May answered with baskets after each to give the Hornets nine-point leads.
