A Googly to the Crude Oil Hike and the rising fuel prices here is some good news.
The students of RV Engineering college, Bangalore – India have designed a three wheeler car that gives a mileage of 85 Kilometres per litre of petrol.
The Garuda-RVCE Super Mileage, which can accommodate only the driver is ultra light and aerodynamically efficient.
The prototype includes a Honda GK 100 77cc, 2hp air-cooled engine, asymmetric CVT transmission system, tubular A1 6063 T6 chassis, 16 Inch recumbent wheels, twin-tie road steering system, variable jet carburettor and simple caliper cycle brakes.
The car was unveiled by Dilip Chhabria, the internationally renowned car designer, at the RV college on Saturday.
The car weighs 55 kg and is 10.5 feet in length, 2.5 feet in width and 2.2 feet in height.
The eight member team which has designed the car intends to be the first Indian team to compete in the SAE super mileage competition next year.
The team is now focussing on increasing the mileage to 500 km/litre. That is some dream!
