So let’s give the English Premiership to Manchester United shall we? It’s all over bar the shouting, screaming, and whining and that’s just the noise from Rafa Benitez.
Manchester United’s latest one-nil win over Everton has cemented their place at the top of the league. 12 consecutive games without conceding a goal is an amazing run for any team and they deserve to be at the top.
The other reason Man United are top is because of the run of draws that Liverpool have had. In my opinion, these draws are mainly down to the defensiveness of Rafa Benitez – he doesn’t like taking risks, especially when a game is nil-nil. He won’t put on an extra attacker or winger and risk losing. His tactics are for the team to sit on a 1-0 lead and take of his main striker, who isn’t playing very well.
Fernando Torres hasn’t recaptured the form he was showing before his series of hamstring injuries. Benitez doesn’t seem to know how to win The Premiership, teams have to attack especially at home. Also Benitez doesn’t appear to trust Robbie Keane enough to play him with Torres for a series of games.
Benitez wants control of Liverpool’s transfers before signing a contract renewal, yet I can’t blame his superiors for not giving Benitez what he wants. 20 million for Keane and 7 million for Dossena seems like bad business, especially when Alex Ferguson paid 30 million for Berbatov.
