India – New Delhi: On Wednesday a five-day gun battle with troops that killed 17 Pakistan-based militant group militants. Lashkar-e-Toiba Terrorist group has claimed responsibility of the gun battle began last Friday in Shamsbari forest near the Line of Control.
Abdullah Gaznavi, spokesman of the Pakistan-based militant group blamed for the Mumbai attacks "The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) will continue to render sacrifices for the freedom of Kashmir and coming days would prove costly for Indian forces."
Indian Army officials said, in the five-day gun battle in Shamsbari forest near the Line of Control of two Nuclear-armed nations India and Pakistan the Indian soldiers shot dead 17 militants and eight soldiers were killed.
Gaznavi said the Lashkar-e-Taiba millitants group, established in the 1990s to fight Indian rule in Kashmir, had laid an ambush for Indian soldiers who were patrolling in the area.
Gaznavi said "India should understand the freedom struggle in Kashmir was not over, it is active with full force," He added "The gun battle should be an eye opener for New Delhi."
The LeT and other Pakistan-based militant groups are blamed by India for last November’s Mumbai attacks, in which 166 people were killed.
The Himalayan region Kashmir is the main reason for the three wars between the two Nuclear-armed India and Pakistan, both claim Kashmir in full.
A Five day firefight against the heavily armed militants in the Shamsbari forest area near the line of control forced India to send more troops to the region.
Lieutenant-Colonel J. S. Brar the Indian army spokesman said "The gun battle is over and search operations are going on in the dense forests."
