The first-year anniversary of UP Gimpong, the organization of UP alumni and currently enrolled students, culminated with the Brainwars Inter-High Schol Quiz Bee last October 30 at the St. William’s Gymnasium.
Participating High School students were categorized into two: Category A for 1st and 2nd year, and Category B for 3rd and 4th year.
The entries from Rizal National School of Arts and Trade – Annex (RNSAT) placed first in Category A; Tabuk National High School placed second; and Saint Theresita’s School (Tabuk) ranked third.
For the more difficult Category B, students from Saint Toni’s College, Inc grabbed the first place; Tabuk National High School replicated its second place; and the other team from Saint Toni’s College, Inc managed to garner the third place.
St. Toni’s was proclaimed as the overall champion with its haul of one gold and one bronze, as compared to the two silver awards for TNHS, which was the defending champion with its domination of both categories during the first edition of Brainwars last year.
According to the web post of DJ Dalanao, one of the organizers, he said that the week-long anniversary was also highlighted by the very timely seminar on leadership for the youth. Lecturers who shared their expertise included Atty. Edward Kisser, Mr. Estanislao Albano, Ms. Elvira Canao, and Hon. Judge Victor Dalanao.
In the seminar, issues affecting the youth were discussed, infused with boosting of competency so that the young leaders can better cope up with the changes in the environment.
