The Canadian Government in its infinite wisdom has wiped clean all of the laws concerning prostitution and the treatment of prostitutes and their clients in Canada.
Today is the last day that the citizens of Canada can suggest to the Government of Canada, exactly what should be done with prostitution, the employees and the law.
I want you to think about something as you read this article. Any person regardless of age or sex who hires themselves out to any employer regardless of the job, and receives payment for their services is prostituting themselves. You are paid for the service you render. So does a prostitute; and a good one can earn 10 maybe 100 times per hour what you earn. The only difference is they don’t currently pay taxes, and their pimp if they have one rips them off for most of it.
I say that it is time to “Legalize” prostitution thus totally eliminating the stigma that has been attached to this profession since the time of Noah.
First we would have to change the label. How about Sexual Therapist? Sounds good to me. Your now going to visit your therapist rather that looking for a hooker or a call girl (male or female). There is more respect and legitimacy to the visit.
The only reason that society attached any real stigma to such women or men is mainly because the government was unable to collect taxes from such people, but hey now they could. As a legal, licensed therapist, the government could now establish a set rate of service for services rendered and charge taxes per service.
What’s more, The Government could institute licensed schooling courses, in high-schools or colleges, or universities, who knows you might be able to earn a Phd. In Sexual Therapy. Why not?
The government could also build places of employment such as hospitals or medical offices where these people could work and earn. Of course the government would also have to ensure the health of the employee, just as it does in many public service businesses already, thus ensuring the health of the therapist as well as the clients.
Think of all of the revenues the government could receive. Think of all the legitimate employment. Think of all of the fees that could be raised legitimately for education in such a field.
What’s more the courts would be totally cleared of such charges as pandering, living off the avails, soliciting, and a myriad of other charges that tie up the courts today.
A sexual therapist would be viewed with respect, a wage earner and taxpayer, rather than some lowly woman or man of the night.
In my view, creating a schooling environment leading to an employable person who provides honest respectful work for a wage is far better than what we have now in our country whereby prostitutes have to sneak behind closed doors, risk their health and safety, get ripped off for their hard earned wages and possibly even beaten or killed for what, for providing a few moments of pleasure to their client.
I say lets legalize prostitution and legitimize it by turning it in to “Sexual Therapy”. Then the government gets its fair share and the employee gains respect and health and safety.
