Jammu, January 22 (Scoop News) – While paying tributes to martyrs of 1947 – 48, the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand underlined the efforts of state government in mitigating sufferings of Kashmiri migrants.
He was speaking at a function organized by Sanjeevni Sharda Kender, Jammu at Migrant colony, Jagti Nagrota, here today.
Deputy Chief Minister also remembered the efforts of then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh in mitigating the sufferings of the Kashmiri migrants and stated that it was only under their stewardship that the real work in this direction was initiated. He praised the Kashmir pandit community for giving great scholars and leaders to this country and state.
Remembering contribution of Jawahar Lal Nehru in the freedom struggle and later as builder of modern India, he stated that the nation is indebted to such personalities. He also reminded the people of the contribution of former Prime Minister and one of the towering leaders of India Smt. Indira Gandhi, who had great love for people of Kashmir.
He assured the people that present govt. lead by Omar Abdullah is committed to the welfare of the Kashmiri migrants and shall leave no stone unturned to take forward the good work initiated earlier under Chief Ministership of Ghulam Nabi Azad. He also cautioned the migrant community for remaining vigilant about the elements who have always exploited the migrants by giving emotional slogans of communalism and regionalism.
The function was also attended by Jugal Kishore, MLA Nagrota, K.N. Pandita, Convenor JKNM, S. Sucha Singh, P.N. Pandita, office bearers of Sanjeevni Sharda Kendre and others.
