Despite the odds stacked against her, Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Hillary Clinton of New York refuses to drop out of the race. Many have prepared to acknowledge Democratic co-frontrunner Senator Barack Obama of Illinois as the eventual party nominee. The Republican National Committee (RNC) has ignored Clinton and focused its attack ads on Obama.
While many have said Clinton needs to drop out, many were either uncommitted or supporting Obama. Now, some of Clinton’s supporters have stepped forward saying that she needs to drop out. Recently, former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack has stepped forward and said that it is time for Senator Clinton to admit that she has lot the nomination.
Vilsack said that Obama will be the Democratic nominee. He has been one of the strongest supporters in the Clinton campaign. Vilsack voicing dissent could be deemed pretty major.
“After Tuesday’s contests, she needs to acknowledge that he’s going to be the nominee and quickly get behind him,” Vilsack added.
Still, Clinton claims she holds the popular vote after winning in Puerto Rico’s primary. But, the claim is still up for debate. Her only hope of even securing the Democratic nomination would lie in the hands of the superdelegates. The compromise of Florida and Michigan did not turn out in Clinton’s favor.
