Police sources said the hideout belonged to LeT District Commander, Habib Gujjar @ Habibullah @ Salman who in recent times was reported to be reinvigorating the tanzeem in the Naidgam – Kuchhal bowls.
Police sources said, a number of war like stores were recovered form the hideout including one 12 bore rifle, seven Chinese grenades,37 gelatin sticks, 11 UBGL grenades, 60 Kgs of explosive material, two improvised pipe bombs, one RPG round, seven detonators , 15 meters of cordex wire & one radio set battery. In addition three fire extinguishers which could be converted into IEDs were also recovered.
The stores recovered from the hideout had the potential of causing large scale casualties and damage to property. The busting of the hideout has succeeded in derailing the nefarious designs of the terrorists.
The busting of Salman’s hideout has also given the security forces vital clues about the whereabouts of this dreaded LeT terrorist. In the recent times he has been recruiting new cadres from Keshwan & Chatru areas to make up the dwindling strength of terrorists.
It may be mentioned here that six militants and four army jawans including a Major were killed in the encounter since last two days in
Meanwhile a Youth killed by HM militants in Ganderbal. Latief Ahmad Gigi son of Ali Mohammad was killed by HM militants at his residence in village Akhal, in Kangan. The deceased was brother of a militant Dilawar Gigi. Police has registered a case in this regard.
